An "orientalist" is a person who studies or specialises in the languages, cultures, history, or customs of the East, particularly East and Southeast Asia.
As fashion explorers, we are fascinated by the exotic aesthetics offered by other countries. The Lolita fashion was created by Japanese designers who were influenced by Western countries.
These designers did not limit their creativity, so they took this fashion style and incorporated elements from other cultures as well. That resulted in interesting variations like Wa Lolita (和ロリ), a style that has elements that are traditional to Japanese design. The Qi Lolita (チーロリ), or Han Lolita (華ロリ), a style that has elements that are traditional to Chinese design.
